“It’s only been three weeks, but I’ve entirely rethought our strategy, and the investors are incredibly excited about it,” a client informed me.
He’d just come back from the last CEO retreat with our Rivendell group, where all these ideas had emerged.
“The last few quarters have been hard,” he admitted.
“We’ve been more and more taking a ‘huddle down and winter the storm’ stance, conserving costs and waiting for things to improve. I’d not noticed how far this tendency had spread. It’s been depressing morale and sucking the creativity out of the organisation.”
His new plan clearly wasn’t a recipe for reckless management – that wouldn’t have excited investors.
