Executives: harness this law of physics!

At some point in leadership, you realise something profound:

Getting smarter or more strategic isn’t enough to move the needle anymore.

In physics, a charged particle in motion generates a magnetic field. It attracts and aligns others, pulling them into its orbit—or repelling them when necessary.

It’s a powerful metaphor for leadership.

  • Are you charged up with a clear and compelling purpose?
  • And are you in motion, pursuing an exciting goal that energises others?

Last month, at a Rivendell retreat, a new member nailed the problem many leaders face:

“Point me towards a goal, and I’ll crush it. But do I really know why I’m doing it?”

It struck a chord. Many leaders aren’t limited by a lack of strategic thinking.

What holds them back is a deeper challenge: Getting crystal clear on what truly matters—not just in business, but in life.

More than purpose

Another CEO at the retreat brought a bold and inspiring vision. Yet somehow, it didn’t inspire. Despite running a 1,000+ person company, he played it safe, staying well within his comfort zone.

Being a magnetic leader isn’t just about knowing your why. It’s about living it:

  • Igniting the fire in your belly.
  • Taking courageous, bold moves that stretch your limits.
  • Having the hard conversations others avoid.

And let’s not forget…Magnetic leaders bring a life-giving energy to the table. People want to be around them.

It’s not the energy of frustration, burnout, or anxiety (a trap too many leaders fall into).

Instead, it’s an energy of curiosity, creativity, and (wait for it!) fun.

(Fun is magnetic too. See Exhibit A from the retreat!)

Magnetise yourself, magnetise others

Exponential leadership isn’t just about becoming a magnetic leader.

It’s about magnetising others—empowering them to lead their teams with inspiration, courage, and compassion, so they champion innovation across your entire organisation.

Most leaders miss this.

They just focus on helping their teams hit goals, rather than helping their people become magnetic leaders to their own teams.

If this resonates, stay tuned—I’ll be sharing more about how to ignite your own Leadership Crucible in the coming days.

But for now, let me ask:

Are you ready to charge up, move boldly, and inspire your world?

Every successful leader hits a wall.

Click the one you’re facing—and I’ll send insights tailored to break through.
